Now in its third year, the Davy Writers Prize is fast becoming well known for its eclectic mix of original short stories, memoirs, and poetry.

Our aim is to nurture and encourage original writing by all ages, providing feedback to each author wherever possible, and ensuring that both the winning and shortlisted entries are printed in our annual free publication, The Best of the Davy Writers Prize.

We believe that seeing one’s own words in print gives burgeoning writers the confidence to continue with this vitally important form of self-expression.

The Davy Writers Prize is passionate about writing that moves and inspires the reader. But with the increasing use of AI, we need stories that reveal our shared humanity and perspectives more than ever before.

In keeping with this need, one of our new conditions is that all writing is created solely by the author, and that no AI is involved at any stage of the work’s development.

Only through writing our own stories, memoirs and poetry, either from life experience or our wonderful imaginations, can we truly engage meaningfully with each other. Such a connection cannot – and should not ever – be replaced by Artificial Intelligence.
